“I joined this incredible organization (Journey 2 Justice, Inc.) this year and it has opened my eyes to the law. J2J has taught me that critical thinking, hard work, discipline, compassion, commitment to advocacy, and dedication are the key components to becoming a successful lawyer.
This year, I met high school, college and post grad students who have similar goals to become lawyers. We have developed a family-like relationship and this has helped me tremendously in my journey. During the summer, I had the opportunity to intern with the State’s Attorney’s Office in Bridgeport. Our supervisor, Assistant State’s Attorney E provided us with the opportunity to observe different courtrooms to see what a day in the life would be as a prosecutor. We were able to meet several attorneys and judges. This internship has opened my eyes to the important role of a prosecutor.
In the fall, we went on a college tour to visit four different universities: Morgan State University, Georgetown University, Howard University, and George Washington University. This college trip had a huge impact on me because it provided me with valuable information to apply to colleges.
Overall, J2J has played a major role in shaping both my career and academic goals. J2J has given me confidence in pursuing a career in law. As I continue my beloved journey toward a legal career, I will carry the lessons taught, connections made, and motivation I gained from J2J with me, knowing that this organization has laid a strong foundation for my future success.”
