Our Programs

Journey to Justice, Inc. is a law pipeline program geared toward students from sixth grade to law school, interested in pursuing legal careers. During the academic year, we provide instruction on law, civics, advocacy, SAT, and LSAT Prep. Our programming will help our scholars develop the necessary critical reasoning and oral advocacy skills demonstrated by effective and exceptional attorneys. Our students participate in a fun and exciting Mini Mock Trial Summer Program and field trips to our nation’s historic sites. We offer our high school, college and law students internship opportunities with state, federal and corporate partners.

We take great care to match our high school and college students with a mentor and an academic counselor who will also work with each student’s school counselor throughout the year during their pre-law journey. Our mission is to remain involved and connected with our students until graduation, their first legal employment and beyond. We are confident that this model will work in creating the next generation of lawyers.

Mocking “J” Quest

Middle School Program

The Mockingbird is a symbol of newness, a creature that does no harm. The Mockingbird in Harper Lee’s famous legal thriller novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, is the mascot for our middle school program. Mocking J Questers are intellectually curious and always on a quest for justice and truth.

Middle school scholars participate year round two Saturdays per month in civic and legal workshops as well as our Justice Speaker Series. They’re paired with mentors/counselors and attend various events, including networking events and field trips to our nation’s government and historic sites.

During the summer, in addition to these events, our middle school scholars participate in the Mini Mock Trial Program. During this exciting but intense experience, two teams compete to win the coveted J2J Team trophy and bragging rights, of course!

Liberty Leo

High School Program

The lion symbolizes strength, power, courage, and justice. Liberty Leo is the mascot for our high school scholars. Just as the lion seeks justice, our scholars’ inquisitive nature and developing minds continually question and test the means of achieving it. Sound like any teens you know?

Our high school scholars engage in a fun and educational program one Saturday per month. We provide SAT, oral advocacy, college admissions process, and essay writing workshops. We also pair our high school scholars with mentors and counselors throughout the year and provide college tours in the fall.

Our Liberty Leos assist our facilitators and college scholars with the Middle School Mini Mock Trial Championship during the summer.

And throughout the summer, they also have the opportunity to shadow lawyers in different practice areas. Exposure to lawyers and members of the judiciary–impactful for our young Lions– keeps them engaged and hungry for more opportunities.

Legal Eagle

College Undergraduate Program

The Eagle represents strength, power and vision. Our College students have a unique vision for their future. As young adults, our Legal Eagle College scholars consistently test barriers, rising to higher heights with each experience in our Program. They are inspired by the transformational aspect of the law and they own their career decision to become changemakers within it.

Our College scholars have a unique role in our program. They participate one Saturday per month in workshops that provide LSAT prep, law school admission application/writing support. They also mentor our two younger cohorts.

In addition to mentoring our younger students, our College students are paired one on one with an attorney Mentor and/or Judge. Our Program sets up Internship opportunities in Law firms and law departments during the summer. Our College scholars also attend field trips and play a critical role in helping to facilitate our Summer mini Mock Trial Program for our Middle School scholars.

Justice Owl

Law School Program

The owl symbolizes wisdom, keen observation, and deep analysis of complex legal issues. Justice Owl, as our law school program mascot, embodies the tenacity and spirit of our law school scholars. We work with our law students throughout their journey to help develop their critical thinking and analytic ability. And just like the mascot, our scholars find their way–and with our help– navigate the most challenging problems and periods.

We provide workshops on interviewing, resume writing and job search techniques. We also place them in summer law internships. Between 1L and post-grad, our law school scholars will partake in various opportunities, particularly working closely with our experienced partners in the legal field to provide exceptional legal representation to litigants. Under their supervision, we are training our cohort of J2J Justice Owls and newly licensed attorneys to take on novel legal issues, in and out of the courtroom.

We hope to soon establish a Law Command Center, where innovation and technology will meet, providing the backdrop for effective advocacy. And our Justice Owls who have gone through the program will lead the charge.
