Journey 2 Justice
The group of judges who graciously participated included State Supreme Court Chief Justice, Raheem Mullins, U.S. District Court Judges Omar Williams and Vernon Oliver, Appellate Court Judges Jose Suarez and Robin Williams, as well as Chief Administrative Judge for Juvenile Matters, Tammy Nguyen-O’Dowd. Judge Thamar Esperance-Smith was our moderator for the judges’ panel that followed. Judge Esperance -Smith a led a dynamic panel discussion whereby the judges candidly shared the challenges and triumphs of their law journeys. These moments inspired and edified both our scholars and audience members alike.

Journey 2 Justice
On Saturday, May 16th, J2J held a Mock Appellate Oral Argument Competition and Judicial Panel at the Connecticut Supreme Court. The day began with a full competition where two Teams consisting of scholars ranging from our Middle schoolers to our High school, College and Post Grad scholars argued a fictitious case “Our Citizens’ Tax Dollars vs. State of CT” before 6 Federal and State judges. Our scholars maintained their poise and were adept in arguing the facts and the law as well as answering each judge’s questions. Overall they did an excellent job!
